Workshop for Teachers on 'Personalised Learning'

Being continuously challenged to respond to the different learning needs and preferences of students, teachers of Taylor’s College underwent a development workshop entitled, ‘Personalised Learning for All Students’.

The workshop was facilitated by Ms Lauren Wilson, an experienced coordinator and administrator (retired) for the Renfrew County District School Board in Ontario, Canada.

The workshop exposed teachers to the interactive approaches and strategies that will help them in preparing engaging, meaningful and varied assessment for their students. Among the topics of the day were Checking for Understanding, Questioning, Effective Feedback, Learning Progressions and Learning Goals, and the Formative Assessment Cycle.

“Three afternoons well spent learning from one who is passionate in helping students learn! Lauren provided a scaffold in reaching greater heights in this Learning Revolution we’re on!” - Delicia Ng, CAL Teacher, Subject Coordinator, Thinking Skills.

“Assessment OF learning or Assessment FOR Learning? I was never alert about this until it was emphasised during the workshop. We practiced various informal formative assessments and that created a fun and interactive environment. Furthermore, how teachers provide an effective feedback is a great challenge. I gained a lot through sharing with colleagues on the four levels of feedback; in the meantime, this helped to boost my courage and confidence in being a key teacher in the Effective Feedback group. Last but not least, Poll Everywhere was awesome!” - Ko Soo San, CAL Teacher, Biology.
